In the last seven years City Life Church has established itself as a loving, gospel community in Southeast San Diego.
We’ve baptized dozens and helped vaccinate hundreds.
During the pandemic, with your help, we hosted a food pantry out of my home and gave out over 4,000 pounds of food and diapers to over 400 families.

We handed out thousands of homemade masks in the first 6 months of the pandemic when masks were nowhere to be found.
We’ve hosted easter egg hunts and food distributions for needy families who might not have enough to last over long, holiday weekends.
We’ve performed funerals, weddings and baby dedications.
We’ve cried over friends we lost to violence and abuse, and we’ve celebrated Jesus freeing our closest friends from addiction and mental illness.
We’ve seen people cured from stage three cancer.

But our dreams go far beyond what God has already done. God has given us a great reputation in Mt Hope as we’ve served faithfully for many years, and we intend to use that reputation for the even greater work ahead of us.

Recently, pastor Dale was awarded The Hero of Southeast San Diego by the president of our city council.  Surely this award was more for our church than for him, but he was happy to accept on our behalf.  The trust in the community is strong and we believe it can lead to even greater things.

Now we believe we have an opportunity to pursue our dreams even further.
WE HAVE PURCHASED A BUILDING IN OUR COMMUNITY!

In the past we’ve been offered free buildings in other neighborhoods. A 15 minute drive doesn’t sound like much to some, but we wanted our church to always be available to those who needed to walk from this community to a church like ours. To us it was worth paying rent to the local school and setting up and tearing down every week for seven years if it kept us here, in our beloved Mt Hope.

Several years ago we began to meet with a local church about buying their building. But for some reason we felt it was not the right time and passed. After much prayer our Elders believed THIS is the right time to pursue our big dream of a home base for ministry work.
A place to host our food pantry and partner with the food bank.
A place for kids to safely learn the gospel and perhaps receive tutoring.
A place to set up ONCE and focus our energies on other more important things.
A place to put roots down deeper into our community.
A place to host events for our church as well as others who need a space.
A place for a suit and clothing closet for job interviews.
A place for us to host counseling for those in need.
A place to host gatherings for those in addiction.
A place to host prayer when tragedy strikes.
A place to call HOME!

The cost was great. Like, GOD CAN ONLY DO THIS, great. It’s a big dream.
We paid 1.25 Million dollars.
Because of the generosity of others we were able to put down $400,000 and pay $50,000 for closing costs, inspections and fees.

Now we are asking you to prayerfully go to God and ask Him what you should give.
We are hoping many of you are going to be VERY generous.

Whatever you are considering giving, maybe consider asking God why you shouldn’t double that?
If this ask seems bold, it’s because we believe we must be bold for this project to succeed. If we are willing to boldly pray with gang members in the community moments after a shooting, we must be willing to challenge others to boldly give in ways that will give great glory to God.

You can help generations in our community with your gift and so I am willing to ask for you to consider extravagant generosity. I’d love for you to share in our joy as God provides for this BIG DREAM.

Not only that, we are asking that you would consider contacting others you know who might be willing to help us as well. Would you be willing to lend us your credibility and tell them why giving to us is a wise investment in the kingdom?  If they are interested, I would be happy to talk to them or send them any and all information they require.

Maybe you don’t have much money but you are good at fixing things...
Maybe you can send a team of volunteers to help us clean…
Maybe you can’t serve much but you can write a check…

It’s a lot to ask but we have prayerfully considered this is from God.

If you have any questions, feel free to email our pastor.
You may give online at citylifesandiego.org/give with a note of “DREAM BIG” or mail checks to us with the note “DREAM BIG” or you can use the more boring “building fund.”
Whatever you do, we appreciate it.

P.S.
We are happy to take large one time gifts, but also gratefully accept gifts over several years.
And if you have nothing financially to give, would you be praying for us? We need it!
